McCarthy shifts focus to Sundowns

Cape Town – Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says his side has shifted their focus to the MTN8 after they dropped valuable points against Free State Stars on Wednesday.

The Citizens played a 2-2 draw against Ea Lla Koto at Goble Park in midweek games and McCarthy was once again frustrated by his side inability to finish good goal scoring chances.

They are without a win in their last two Premiership games, but have managed to perform better in the MTN8, where they have a 1-0 led over Mamelodi Sundowns going into Sunday's semi-final second leg tie.

The two teams will face off at Lucas Moripe Stadium in a battle to secure a place in the final of the competition.

McCarthy told SuperSport:"I thought we had them (Stars) where we wanted, listen, its best that I just be modest and i don't talk about the real issues that our football is facing.

"I'm happy with the point that we got, something to build on. Now I can look forward to playing the second leg of the semi-final against a team that plays beautiful football.

"A team that has set standards in our league and a team that you will not lose your players to injuries because of the type of football they play.

"I'm looking forward to Sunday playing Pitso (Mosimane), that's why he is the best coach in our league because he sets-up his team to play."
