Pitso doubts if Rivaldo Coetzee will recover from injury

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed concern about the future of Rivaldo Coetzee due to a career-threatening injury.

Coetzee joined Sundowns ahead of 2017/18 after a move to Celtic in Scotland failed to go through due to a failed medical.

Initially, Downs said he needed surgery on an injury though it has since become clear his ailment is more serious.

The 27-year-old failed to make an appearance in the previous campaign and has not featured in 2018/19 either.

Speaking to reporters, Mosimane said: "What a good player, I invested in the 20-year-old, I see the same investment we put into Keagan (Dolly), Bongani Zungu, Percy Tau, you know, but these things do happen.

"We can do nothing, we have to wait, he is kicking a little bit, he is touching the ball, he is coming up, 'pain…coach, pain,' sometimes he is okay, (but) I feel sorry, what a talent hey.

"But we at Sundowns, we are patient, it is not easy when you spend so much money on him, but that is football remember, so, shame man and he plays for Bafana, he should be helping us, I told him that he needs to pray a lot, maybe these things can change you never know.

"If you guys know anyone who can help, support. We will put him on any flight in the world to get him better, he is 21 years, he can still stay two years without playing to get better, it's very sad. Do you think I would go and buy another centre-back when I have him? But that's it, injuries."
