Ghanas VP Bawumia relishes Saudi hospitality

JEDDAH: Ghanas Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia left Jeddah on Sunday after performing Hajj.

The vice president was seen off by Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed, at King Abdul Aziz International Airport along with senior officials. Bawumia expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Saudi leadership for their warm welcoming and hospitality throughout Hajj.

Earlier, during a reception party organized by Ghanaian Pilgrim Affairs Office at their headquarters to celebrate this years successful Hajj season, the vice president lauded the Kingdoms role and its generous patronage of the two Holy Mosques and their expansion as well as the development of other holy sites.

The senior Ghanaian official also valued the Kingdoms success in organizing the movements of more than 2 million pilgrims in a specific area and time, speaking multiple languages, terming it as an uneasy mission. He said the Kingdoms great efforts and cumulative experiences have contributed to the success of this years Hajj.

Ghana is a democratic country led by a president who is both head of state and head of the government.

Around 23.6 percent of the countrys population is Muslim.
