Looks like Marvel fans are going to have to wait that little bit longer for the third installment of Guardians Of The Galaxy, as its been reported production is on hold indefinitely.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, crew members have now been dismissed and told to look for other work as the show looks for a new director.

The publication claims that it is a temporary postponement after they were set to start filming this winter, with James Gunn taking full reign.

However just last month Gunn was let go by Disney when a string of tweets, which were published over a decade ago, resurfaced showing the 52-year-old joking about rape.

Despite his tweets, fans and actors alike stuck up for the star and showed their full support in getting him back working on the film.

The pair took part in signing a letter with other cast members, giving fans hope that Gunn could return.

It read: We fully support James Gunn. We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these 10 days to respond….We are not here to defend his jokes of many years ago.

The character he has shown in the wake of his firing is consistent with the man he is every day on set.

Gunn has been fired as director of ???Guardians of the Galaxy 3??? because of old tweets that recently emerged where he joked about subjects like pedophilia and rape. Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said in a statement Friday, July 20, 2018, that the tweets are indefensible, and the studio has severed ties with Gunn. His apology, from now and from years ago when first addressing these remarks, we believe is from the heart.

They added: Each of us looks forward to working with our friend James again in the future. His story isnt over – not by a long shot.

However, since then Variety revealed that getting their beloved director back might take more than just a couple of signatures on a letter.
