16-month police operation in Central West nets five arrests, drugs, cash, ammunition and a sword

Four men and one woman have been charged and police have seized cash and drugs as part of an investigation into an alleged large-scale drug supply syndicate operating in Dubbo and across the Central West.

Strike Force Frederica was established by detectives from the Central West Police District in May, 2017 to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine in Bathurst, Wellington and Dubbo.

Following extensive inquiries, a 34-year-old woman was arrested at a home on Spring Street in Orange on Thursday.

She was taken to the local police station and charged with supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug, and two counts of supplying a small quantity of a prohibited drug.

About 11.30am on Wednesday a 61-year-old man was arrested following a vehicle stop on Bletchington Street, Orange.

During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized methylamphetamine, a mobile phone and cash.

He was taken to Orange police station and charged with six offences, including four counts of taking part in the supply of prohibited drugs, and two counts of possessing prohibited drugs.

A search warrant was also executed at a home on Spring Street, during which police found drugs, ammunition and a sword.

On Tuesday a 22-year-old man was arrested at Orange police station and charged with three counts of supplying a small quantity of a prohibited drug.

The woman and 61-year-old man were refused bail to face Orange Local Court on Thursday, where she was refused bail again to reappear at the same court on Monday.

The 22-year-old man was granted conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on Monday.

Their arrests follow two more elsewhere in the state last week, one of which will lead to an Orange court date next month.

Last Friday a 36-year-old man was arrested at a home at Cranebrook and was taken to Penrith police station and charged with supplying a small quantity of a prohibited drug, and supplying a prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on September 24.

On Thursday police arrested a 37-year-old man at Silverwater and charged him with 17 drug supply offences, including 12 counts of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug, and supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

He appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Friday where he was bail refused to reappear at Katoomba Local Court on October 22.
