BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs confirm signing of Manyama

Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of free agent Lebogang Manyama after the attacker was recently released by Turkish side Konyaspor.

The 27-year-old midfielder earned a move to Turkey in 2017 on the back of an outstanding campaign with Cape Town City, which saw him scoop numerous accolades, including Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season.

However, Manyama failed to establish himself at the Konya Buyuksehir Stadium and was expected to leave the Turkish Super Lig outfit after making just 10 first-team appearances.

Maimane Phiri confirmed that his client was since released by the Anatolian Eagles with the Bafana Bafana international's now making a move to the Soweto giants.

SuperSport United had already expressed an interest in Manyama, but the club's CEO, Stanley Matthews, conceded they cannot afford his wages. Mamelodi Sundowns were also been linked with his signature.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Pollen Ndlanya previously called on the Glamour Boys to pull out all the stops to sign Manyama.

"They need as many good players as they can. The new coach needs quality players for him to compete in the new season.

"We know Lebo very well from his days at Supersport, Cape Town City. He scores goals and is a quality player; the club should go all out to get his signature.
