Volunteer group funding open for South West applicants

South West community groups are being urged to apply for the latest round of the federal governments volunteer grants program.

Federal member for Forrest Nola Marino said groups can apply for grants from $1000 to $5000.

“Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will help community organisations in the South West buy equipment such as laptops, pay fuel costs, train volunteers or improve their fundraising,” she said.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community and without them a lot of clubs and organisations would not survive.

“The Turnbull Government realises this and sees these grants as another way of supporting our south west volunteers.

“About nine organisations in Forrest were among the 2,690 groups nationally who benefited from the Volunteer Grants in 2016, including the Yarloop Workshops and Brunswick Tennis Club.

“The South West Rail and Heritage Centre used their grant to purchase power and hand tools to be used in the maintenance of the centre.

“I encourage all not-for-profit organisations in the South West to apply for the Volunteer Grants to help make the work of our volunteers easier, safer and more enjoyable.”

Applications close Tuesday 18 September 2018.
