In one of our favourite hashtags of the last week – #ShareYourRejections – screenwriter John August revealed there was nearly a Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman spin-off.
August took to Twitter to share excerpts of his pitch which was later rejected by Warner Bros.
He tweeted: Catwoman at Warners in 1998. Sequel with Michelle Pfeiffer returning. Producer excited. After pitch, exec insisted it needed to be Sarah Michelle Gellar and involve hair-washing scene, then showed me Matrix trailer.
He continued: I found my old pitch and I actually still love it.

The script opens with Catwoman at the psychiatrist on Halloween in Gotham City.
However, we discover shes not really at the psychiatrists and shes actually embarking on her first robbery of the night, having tied her suspect to the chair.

What follows is her ticking off robberies throughout the night before encountering Nightfall who blasts her through glass windows, landing her in hospital.
When she awakens as Selina Kyle, surrounded by friends and family, we realise she had no idea she was ever Catwoman.
Its an interesting premise and the thread is a a delight to read for superhero fans and cinephiles alike.
Augusts screenwriting accolades include Big Fish, Charlies Angels and Corpse Bride, so were sure if the film ever did see light of day, it would have been a hit.
The 2004 Catwoman movie saw Halle Berry star in debatably her worst film, so perhaps we could just forget it ever happened and return to Augusts pitch…?
