He has been causing mayhem in Emmerdale for years, turning lives upside down by sexually assaulting Alicia Metcalfe, shooting grandfather Lawrence, threatening to kill Robert Sugden and allowing Andy Sugden to be framed for his crime.
And since January, evil Lachlan has stepped things up a gear as he has started killing off many residents of the village, including several members of his own family and his best pal, loveable Gerry Roberts.
But its going to get even darker, were afraid, as Lachlan strikes again and more people are left quivering in fear. Heres whats to come.

Belle gives him good news
All that Lachlan has ever wanted is to build a normal life with Belle and be happy with her but his pesky habit of being unable to stop himself murdering people is inevitably going to keep getting in the way. before it all goes to pot again though, Lachlan thinks everything is coming together and has a new reason to stop his secrets ever coming out as Belle asks him if he wants to move in together.

Naturally she does and Belle decides to shack up with the killer shack dwelling killer – what a shacking move! As they put in an offer for a house, things are moving fast…
Rebeccas message haunts Lachlan
What Lachlan currently doesnt know is that Rebecca has left a message in the shack of doom confirming that he is a killer. While still chained up, she scrawled it in the woodwork for someone to find and as Lachlan returns to the now empty building, his efforts to get rid of it prove futile.
Yep, he can kill people with ease and even bring down an entire B&B onto a poor lad but he cant manage to get rid of four very incriminating words that could be his undoing.
Priya confirmed as the next victim
Priya announces that she is hiring security for the glamping site and Lachlan knows that this will potentially bring people into contact with that pesky shack. While he is inside trying his very best to erase Rebeccas revelation, Priya arrives and Lachlan lies in wait, brandishing a heavy stick.
Is this the end for Priya?

Whether or not he has killed Priya remains to be seen but after this tense moment, Lachlan decides that its time the shack was no more. Standing outside after dousing the place in petrol, he decides that torching it is the only way to get rid of Rebeccas message – and potentially Priyas body.

He will get worse
Thomas Atkinson has revealed that we will see things get even darker in the autumn – and hes not just talking about the nights. Lachlan will get closer and closer to the edge as the weight of his secrets overwhelms him which means that it seems increasingly likely that someone else will die.

Other characters are bound to want the truth
There have been a lot of players in this story so far, many of whom have suspected Lachlan along the way. While Robert and Aarons focus will be on their wedding, Robert and Liv are bound to play a part in the story again especially considering that they were some of the few who survived Lachlans wrath.
And others, such as Doug and Diane who were duped over Gerrys death and Ross, who currently believes Rebecca walked out on him, may have stuff to say too when the truth comes out.
Belle at serious risk
For a while, Thomas insisted that Lachlan would never hurt Belle but he has somewhat changed his tune now as the story rumbles into its final stages. When Lachlan is exposed – and it will happen – he might well decide to take Belle down with him as he cant bear her to live her life without him.
With nothing to lose, Lachlan would be at his most dangerous and Belle could well be his final victim.

Shocking autumn climax
There is an ending on the way, dont fret! Thomas has hinted that the story will reach a crescendo in the autumn time as truths come to light and time runs out for Lachlan – but dont expect a quiet conclusion.
If the dates match up, we could see Lachlans story end in ITVs annual super soap week in October – previous years have seen motorway pile ups, shootings and exploding barns so theres bound to be spectacle, tension, excitement and tragedy.
