BTS Fake Love now certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America
K-pop boy band BTS hit song Fake Love has been certified gold in the US.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) released new certifications and awarded Fake Love a gold award for achieving 500,000 units.
This is BTS third certification from RIAA, all of which they earned this year. The popular boy band got their first gold certification through the song MIC Drop last 6 February. On 9 February, BTS got their second RIAA gold award for DNA.
Gold & Platinum Awards are earned by artists who have met rigorous standards, and recipients join the ranks of the most iconic recording artists, according to the RIAA website.
RIAA certifies singles and albums. For the digital single award, the certifications are: Gold – 500,000 units; Platinum – 1,000,000 Units; Multi-Platinum – 2,000,000 units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter); and Diamond – 10,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter).
A unit is defined as each permanent digital download or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams.
