A jealous Victoria Barton is set to make a huge mistake in Emmerdale when she gets the wrong end of the stick and reveals to his new love interest Abby that he is transgender, leaving him furious that she told a story that is only his to tell.
As Victoria grows jealous of Mattys relationship, he admits that he is scared to tell Abby that he is trans. Meanwhile, Victoria is chuffed when he wants her to spend his birthday with him but when a text comes through from Abby, he bails on her and forgets to text her.
As Matty and Abby then get closer and kiss, Matty tells Victoria that he plans to tell her that he used to be female. So when Victoria later sees Abby upset, she jumps to conclusions and accuses her of being closed minded. But she has actually ended up telling Abby that Matty is transgender before he got the chance, meaning its the end of this romance. And Matty is devastated and angry by her actions.
Ash Palmisciano, who plays Matty, explained to Metro.co.uk: They go to a house party at Ross house and this attractive girl called Abby is giving him the eye and he cant believe his luck. He went to the party with Victoria as friends so its quite awkward. But he decides hes going to go to a club with Abby and they leave Victoria, which shes upset about.

Then they go and have a wild night, the best of Mattys life, at a casino, until 5am and they come back and Matty has his first on-screen kiss with her, which is exciting. They click and get on well but the big thing is he hasnt told her hes trans yet. Shes putting pressure on him saying, “Are we going back to yours or mine?” and hes thinking, “I just met this lovely girl, what am I going to do?”
He has some beautiful moments when he confides in Vic and says hes going to tell her. He goes to tell her, and its not the right moment.
Isabel Hodgins picks up the story here and told us: While at the bar Abby gets a phone call, which makes her upset, and Victoria thinks its because shes responded terribly to the information Matty has given her, and so Vic gets protective and has a go and shes like, “What?” Matty thinks Victoria has betrayed him, how could she, as its his story to tell and they have a tiff.
Ash added: Abby is not cool with it and dumps Matty and thats that. Hes embarrassed because its his first rejection as Matty with a girl and he is worried thats going to be his life now and nobody will ever understand. He loves Vic and thinks they are besties but he takes it to heart thinking shes done it on purpose, so its quite an explosive scene.

Of course, Victoria is hiding growing feelings for her best friend – could this eventually lead to romance?
