40 room lodge proposed for Wallcliffe House site

Following the announcement in April that historic Margaret River property Wallcliffe House had been sold, new owners Alexandra and Julian Burt met with local councillors and staff last week to discuss their future aspirations for the site.

Ms Burt said she and Mr Burt recognised the propertys significance to the area.

“We have strong connections to the region and when we knew the owners were selling the property, we felt a responsibility to see the property remain in local ownership,” she said.

On Thursday, the Burts met with councillors and staff before joining them on a visit to the historic site, to share their vision to breathe new life into the South West icon.

The “high-level masterplan” outlines a vision to build and operate a 40-room boutique, luxury lodge on the site.

“Wallcliffe House has been a private residence for more than three decades,” said Ms Burt.

“We are committed to enabling a broader audience to experience this beautiful property via staying with us or partaking in the other on-site experiences such as the restaurant”.
