It is official – the cray season this year will go all year, it will not close as per usual.

This is great news for those who still want to dive for crays or even put a pot in.

We currently have cray pots on sale at Down South Camping & Outdoors so get in before these sell out.

There have been only a few good diving days this month – however Ant was back in to it slaying fish left, right and centre (as proved by the photo on this page) not so long ago.

Shore divers have been quiet but the boat divers have still been getting crays and the odd dhuie and pinky when diving in up to 20 metres.

Shore based fishos have been encountering some big winter herring along with some nice skippy.

Salmon are still are being caught along the coast at times, as well as some awesome captures of Pink Snapper, with Decal Zamir proving that recently with a cracking shore based snapper on what looks to be a glorious Autumn morning.

Boaties have been finding good fish out from Augusta with some big Dhuies landed along with some nice Pinkies when the weather has allowed people to get out there.

We havent had many reports from the west coast as conditions have not been favourable recently but when conditions have been ok there have been some good Bights red fish (Nannys) being landed.

For those of you lucky enough to be heading north for these cooler months make sure your gear is all in order.

Flares, epirb, life jackets for the boat, terminal tackle ready to take on the northern species, reels and rods in working order and new line on those reels to handle the mackies etc.

There is nothing worse than getting out on the boat or to that secret fishing spot only to find that you are missing that crucial piece of gear or equipment.

For those who might be venturing north for the first time and are not 100 per cent on what they need to take for camping, fishing, diving – drop in and we can help you out.

Until next month, happy fishing and diving in the Capes,

Roz Cummings
