Property owners and business have two weeks left to place registration stickers on their waste and recycling bins before the no sticker, no pick-up policy comes into full effect on 1 July 2018.
Shire Waste Education and Project Officer Jackie Dickson said the audit has gone very well with only a small number of residents and businesses still needing to claim their bin stickers to avoid disruption to waste and recycling services.
“Weve had a really good response to both the residential and commercial bin audits and now the majority of bins in the Shire are all set to go with their new stickers,” she said.
“The commercial audit has been particularly successful as Shire Officers were able to discuss the individual waste and recycling needs of each business while hand delivering stickers.
“The kerbside collection contractors have advised a small number of unstickered bins are still being placed out for servicing.
“These people will need to contact the Shire before 1 July 2018 to make sure that their bins are correctly registered in the system and marked with a sticker to ensure continuity of their waste and recycling services.”
Ms Dickson said the bin audit has resulted in a much more equitable and transparent system that has allowed the Shire to reinforce a user-pays model.
“The Shire is now receipting over $150,000 in previously lost revenue, which will be reinvested into improved waste management practices, facilities and services.”
