Man fires shots at Nannup Police Station

South West Police are investigating an incident in which a man discharged a firearm a number of times outside the Nannup Police station.

Around 2am, an off duty officer was at home near the Nannup Police Station when he observed a trailer and a motorcycle being dragged and abandoned outside the station.

A man in a nearby vehicle was also shining a light into the officers private residence.

The vehicle then departed and was located a short time later in the Nannup town area by police.

After being confronted by officers, the male driver of the vehicle then sped off and was located a short time later driving recklessly in the car park of the police station.

Police then heard a gunshot, and observed the man was armed with a firearm.

He made threats to police before driving off.

Shortly after, he was heard again driving recklessly around the Nannup area.

He then returned to the police station and discharged his firearm a number of times.

Additional police resources were deployed to the area, and around 5am, the man returned to the police station armed with a knife.

Police challenged the man and he arrested without incident.

The 65 year old Nannup man has been taken to Bunbury District Hospital for a health assessment. Inquiries will continue into the incident.
