Oh, Danny boy.

McFly guitarist Danny Jones has revealed his intention to go solo, breaking free from the bands current stasis.

Having not released an album as a band since 2010s McFly Above the Noise – not forgetting their self-titled McBusted collaboration in 2014, of course – Danny has decided to break off and brave it by venturing into solo territory.

New music from Danny should emerge next month, with the guitarist having spoken to The Sun about his latest plans.

Im really looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing again as Ive really missed it.

That forthcoming single has been co-written by One Direction producer Ash Howes and songwriter Jake Gosling, who penned Ed Sheerans Thinking Out Loud.

Hell have to balance his forthcoming solo endeavours with his TV work on The Voice Kids, mind – the new series kicks off in July.

Dannys decision to go solo will have disappointed fans who are still waiting for a sixth album from McFly – a prospect singer Tom Fletcher doesnt much fancy contemplating at the moment, anyway.

We dont have any plans to write/record/perform together as McFly at the moment, weve not split up & are all happy & supportive of each other doing different things, he told fans on Twitter recently – bursting a few bubbles with each character he typed, no doubt.
