Exciting opportunity
Set to open its doors in 2019, Campus Perth will offer a student accommodation prize to the winners of the 2018/19 Cinesnaps Short Film competition as part of this years CinefestOZ film festival.
For the next two years, eight lucky students will be offered the opportunity to experience a semester of free student housing at Campus Perth.
Campus Perth is a new, co-living hub centrally located in the heart of Northbridge.
The Cinesnaps Short Film Competition is part of the CinefestOZ schools program, which includes a short film competition encouraging young, aspiring South West filmmakers to create and showcase original short films. The theme for 2018 is “Mirrors”.
CinefestOZ chief executive officer Malinda Nixon said the opportunity for South West students to receive scholarships for residential student living while they pursue their tertiary education in Perth was a tangible benefit of entering the Cinesnaps Short Film competition.
Ms Dixon said this year, CinefestOZ had received a record number of film entries and that Cinesnaps encouraged aspiring South West filmmakers, aged 15 to 18 years old, to create and showcase original short films, between three to five minutes in duration.
"The South West is known for its creative industries and it would be gratifying to see South West students starting out on their creative careers with this prize from Campus Perth,” Ms Dixon said.
Campus Perth marketing manager Jasmine Kemp said she was excited about Campus Perth opening its doors next year, and the collaboration with CinefestOZ.
“Campus Perth has been designed to offer students the ultimate study, life balance in a fun and safe environment, which is extremely important for students that are leaving home for the first time,” she said.
“Being in the city centre, students can also get a part-time job or management training in their specific industry.
“From campus, students can easily stroll to landmarks and the Perth Railway Station.”
General manager Brian McHenry said the prize would give budding South West filmmakers a unique advantage to launch their university life and film career in a thriving technology hub.
