Let it be known – Jason Derulo is a massive fan of K-Pop.
And he has been longer than most of us because of his appreciation for K-Pop artists high-energy performances and work ethics, which means for him the fact that K-Pop has now been given a global platform is ruddy exciting.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk he confessed he has been a fan of the genre for about 10 years, and now has something exciting in the pipeline.
Ive always been a fan of K-pop because of the performance aspect, he told us.
Ill be completely honest, I am so over lazy artists and the world is full of these non-performers and its a little sickening to me as Im a huge fan of performers who can take the stage and light the stage on fire.
I think its so few and far between. People dont seem to care and that gets on my nerves.
When asked how long hed been loving the Korean music scene, he added: I first go introduced to K-Pop about nine/10 years ago when my career first started when I went over to Korea and I got experience it first hand.
And ever since in terms of fashion, in terms of performance, it was super next level. Its not nearly the lazy mentality that most artists have. And Im so glad it has a world stage now. Thats so dope.
And then the big question – is he working with any K-Pop artists? At this question he got excited but couldnt say much.
Um…I am actually in the process of doing something. I cant tell you what, he told us.
After being pressed, he couldnt elaborate, but when he was asked if hes a fan of BTS, without hesitation he gave an emphatic 100% yes.
He added: Im a superfan of their fashion and their performance.
Jason definitely seemed like a superfan, so could there be a duet in their future? Hes definitely got their moves down pat at least. And he told us that we have just two months to wait to find out what he has in store.
The singer is currently promoting his new single Colors, released ahead of the World Cup in collaboration with Coca-Cola.
I wanted to talk about unity and togetherness, he explained of the track.
Especially with the state of the world.I always wanted it to be a demonstration of being proud of where youre from.
Its a huge celebration and you can be proud of your colour from all different perspectives; skin, jersey, hair, flag. Just being proud of who you are. Its a celebration of you.
