A new space in London that boasts a sound system able to affect all five of the human senses.

And even though that seems unlikely, a new club called Aures, in Waterloo, with its specifically designed room called the Sensorium, claims to do exactly that.

Located in the graffiti laden tunnel of Leake Street, the space aims to enhance all aspects of human sensory memory, according to its creator Sam Davis.

The space also has an instillation by artist Cristina Reyes called Memory Light which was supposedly meant to pay homage to music and sound from a visual perspective, as well as a graffiti based installation called Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants, by street artist Marc Craig.

The Sensorium itself is a purple lit tunnel with a curved roof, decked out on either side with two walls of Pioneer Pro Audio sound system, covered by thin curtains. Its these two walls of multiple speakers (25 on each side) that give the space its truly three dimensional sound.

Sam said that due to the build of the speakers, wherever you stood in the Sensorium is the sweet spot, aka the place that the sound is most perfect.

As you walk around the room whilst they played various tracks it certainly felt like the sound reached you evenly wherever you stoof.

One of the most impressive elements is how the system could really replicate positional sound. When playing a recording of a helicopter taking off and it really did feel like a helicopter took off to your left, rose overhead and flew off to your right. Not only that, but the space aimed to trigger all five human senses for attendees.

Sam said: Aures London will be able to be used by artists and brands to create the most immersive and memorable experience for their audience as possible by touching on as many or as little sensory memory triggers the need to convey their message.

Iconic, or sight, through AR, VR, 3D 360 degree mapping and hologram, olfactory, or scent, using DMX controlled scent delivery system of over 100s of different scents, echoic, or sound, using the worlds first permanent binaural, stereophonic and 3D audio sound system, gustatory, or taste, using molecular food and drink offerings and finally haptic, or touch, using a low frequency vibrating floor.

As the Sensorium was only in the Beta stage at present, the amount of senses that were available to be triggered were only three out of the five. The sight and smell sense triggers were sadly not available yet, but were promised to be up and running soon.

But the touch, sound and taste sense triggers certainly impressed, with the rumbling floor and tasty food and cocktail combinations working well with the excellent sound.

With a full set of events and special nights planned, the space certainly looks one to look out for when it opens to the general public at the end of the month.
