Pitso ‘preparing to lose Tau’

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has all but confirmed that prolific striker Percy Tau will leave the club.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an incredible 2017/18 season with the Brazilians as he scored 13 goals and grabbed a total of 17 assists in all competitions.

The forward is also widely tipped to win the main prize – Footballer of the Season – at the PSL annual awards evening on Tuesday night in Johannesburg.

While Mosimane had spoken previously about Tau spending another season in the Absa Premiership before moving abroad, it is now appearing unlikely that the striker will stay in South Africa.

“It is not up to me, let's be realistic. He (Tau) has done very well and we should expect somebody from Europe,” Mosimane said as quoted by KickOff website.

“There are talks already. I'm preparing that I'm losing him. It is going to be tough for us.

“But as I say always, tough when you lose 'CBD' and all that, we continued. We lost (Elias) Pelembe, Surprise (Moriri). You lose (Katlego) Mphela, key players.

“Alje Schut was a captain and pillar of strength. But we have to replace.”

Meanwhile, the former Bafana coach remains hopeful that Khama Billiat will stay at Chloorkop.

"If I don't sign Khama it is because he got a better offer somewhere," said Mosimane.

"We can't let (him) go, he has been an important guy. I mean how many games has he played? He has been injured but look at the goals he scored, eight."
