Kaizer Chiefs narrow head coach shortlist to 6

Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the club are on track to announce their new head coach, with six strong candidates currently in the mix.

The Soweto giants are leaving no stone unturned in order to find the right man to take charge of South Africa's most popular football team.

According to Motaung, the process is well underway, with the club having whittled down their choices to around six candidates.

"There is a shortlist. We've had a lot of coaches that have fished – there are about 15-20 coaches' CVs that we've received, but we have shortlisted it," he was quoted as saying by KickOff.

"We are now on the verge of finalising the man that we feel will carry the club and take it forward. We have about six coaches remaining.

"It's a process, and there's meetings and committees where we sit and analyse and interact, and obviously give views and inputs," he added.

Motaung says one of the key criteria for the new coach is that he must understand the history and culture of the club.

"We're looking at a good coach for Chiefs, a great man for Chiefs. We've got a criteria, which we will announce later," he explained.

"For now, definitely, we are looking at a quality coach for the club. Someone with experience, class, credentials and who understands the landscape and the brand."
