Why the crisis at the Giants runs deeper than an injury curse

It's all going wrong at the Greater Wester Sydney Giants.

They were widely tipped to challenge for the premiership in 2018, but 10 rounds into the season they look a long, long way from winning a flag.

Yes, the club has been beset by a bad injury list in 2018 (like they were in 2017). However, the manner of their performances this season – particularly in their loss to Essendon last week – are a sign that problems at the Giants run deeper than their big medial room, according to Real Footy podcasters Michael Gleeson, Caroline Wilson and Sam McClure.

There's also unprecedented optimism about the Melbourne Demons. Their win over Adelaide and their past five wins have been statistically superb and we look at the reasons for that rise.

Our podcasters also examine why things are going well for the Bombers all of a sudden, why the Pies still have a big test in front of them, how West Coast and North Melbourne keep defying expectations and the arguments for and against giving Carlton a priority pick.

Plus, on Just Between Us, the Gold Coast Suns have their eye on international talent, a Richmond star tries his hand at soccer and why was a high ranking AFL figure seen letting the tires down on a car?
