WATCH: Sensational Bale goal best ever in CL final?

Cape Town – Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale scored an acrobatic bicycle-kick goal that left Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius with no hope of saving in Saturday's Champions League final.

WATCH: Bale throws Real Madrid future into doubt

The Reds were hoping to win their sixth Champions League crown while Los Blancos were aiming to make history by winning the club competition for a third consecutive year – and 13th time overall.

For much of the first half Liverpool dominated, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane causing Madrid problems at the back.

Thirty minutes into the match, Salah was brought down by defender Sergio Ramos, who locked the Egyptian's arm and tackled him to the ground.

Ramos walked away without being cautioned by the referee, while moments later Salah, with tears in his eyes, was substituted by coach Jurgen Klopp after suffering a shoulder injury.

Early in the second half Mane cancelled out Karim Benzema's opening goal which saw the introduction of Bale off the bench.

With virtually his first kick of the game, the Welshman gave Madrid the lead in what may well be the best ever goal in a Champions League final.

Madrid went on to win the match 3-1 with Bale bagging a second goal due to a Karius goalkeeping blunder.
