Liam Payne performed One Directions 2015 hit History at Radio 1s Biggest Weekend yesterday and the boybands online fandom couldnt cope with the excitement.

Taking to the stage in Singleton Park, Swansea, Payne paid tribute to his old group with a touching cover that had Directioners sobbing into their hands back home.

Liam sang the farewell tune as an emotional video montage played on the massive screen behind him.

It featured behind the scenes footage of the boys hanging out together from their five years as a band. One Direction went on hiatus in 2015 and History was the last single they released.

However, Niall, Liam, Harry, Louis and Zayn were back together in spirit at the Biggest Weekend yesterday, even if there was no indication of a full scale reunion anytime soon.

It was an emotional few minutes too, with tears flowing freely in the park as well as in sitting rooms up and down the country.

Directioners were in absolute bits during the mini reunion.

Earlier at Biggest Weekend, Ed Sheeran had opened up on the main stage with a banger-stuffed setlist filled with his biggest hits like Bloodstream, Shape of You and A-Team.

He was scheduled for a 12pm start at the festival which was strange because he usually headlines any line-up hes announced for.

A part of me thought no one would be here, joked Sheeran to the 52,000 strong crowd.

My job is to basically warm you up a little bit.

He then proceeded to wow punters with the type of high-energy set weve come to expect from the Halifax-born troubadour.
