Margaret Rivers Jack Robinson said he was super stoked after claiming a somewhat surprise win in theWSL QS 1,500 Mens and Womens Heroes de Mayo Iquique Pro in Chile this week.

Securing himself a $10,000 prize cheque and 1,500 WSL Qualifying Series ranking points, Robinson faced Hawaiian surfer Torrey Meister in the quarterfinals before despatching Brazils Joao Chianca in the semis.

Meeting Alonso Correa in the final, Robinson managed to edge out the Peruvian with a two wave score of 13.13 to Correas 10.77.

“Im super stoked you know, that says it all. I tried not to think about the heats too much, just going out there and surfing,” said Robinson.

“It was such a fun event. I just want to thank everyone for all the support, Iquique is an amazing place.

“Im super stoked I came, because I was a late entry and it was unexpected and just a spur of the moment decision and thats how some of the best things happen in life. Im glad I came. I love Chile!”

The next WSL event will land in Bali this week, where surfers will compete in the Corona Bali Pro in Keramas.

The final stages of the Margaret River Pro will be conducted in Uluwatu following the completion of the Bali Pro with 24 men and eight women remaining to finalise the results of the event which was called off earlier in the year due to shark activity.
