Augusta Volunteer Fire & Rescue member Brenton Tebbutt had an up-close-and-personal view of Tuesdays bush fire near Alexandra Bridge, where firefighters from all local brigades headed south east of Margaret River to battle the escaped burn.

Mr Tebbutt said he was proud to be helping his community on the front line, despite the tough conditions.

“Im so glad to be a part of [the Department of Fire and Emergency Services],” he said.

“It brings so much happiness and joy to me, but its even better with the people who are in my brigade.”

He said the most positive aspect of belonging to the organisation was the way the entire regions brigades worked together.

"The best thing is that all the brigades in the South West get along like yin and yang.

“Brigades from Augusta, Kudardup, Karridale, East-Augusta, Alexandra Bridge, Molloy Island, Witchcliffe and Margaret River all attended today.

“We all blend together and give a hand where needed, the job always get done the best way possible.

“Feel free to come down to one of these stations and sign up, its worth nothing besides getting good positive feedback from the community, become a volunteer fire fighter today!"
