Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the club will not rush as they look to install a new head coach ahead of the new season.
Amakhosi have been without a full-time coach since the departure of Steve Komphela a month ago with Patrick Mabedi stepping into a care-taker capacity.
According to Motaung, Chiefs have been reviewing “more than 15” applications for the post.
Pre-season for the 2018/19 Premiership season begins in roughly three weeks.
Speaking to the Sowetan, Motaung explained it is their "priority" to find a new head coach but they won't panic over the appointment.
He explained: "We are working around it‚ but we are doing it properly. Were not just in a rush.
"Were not doing a hasty job. We are doing our work to get a proper man for the job.
"Its a process. Its not like you can do a thumb-suck and get a coach overnight.
"I think the process is unfolding. We will make announcements soon.
"Its not just waking up and appointing a coach. There are a lot of factors when you are considering a coach."
Motaung added: "Weve got our own deadline but were not making announcements on that. Because then we are under pressure with the media‚ and with everybody asking.
"The process is unfolding. We will make announcements as and when we are ready to."
