Fadlu Davids signs two-year deal with Marizburg

Cape Town – Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia confirmed that head coach Fadlu Davids has been rewarded for his exemplary work by being handed a new contract.

The 36-year-old was finally given the opportunity to lead the team this season, having taking up the role in a care-taker capacity, from his previous position as assistant.

And in the recently completed Premiership campaign, Davids led the Team of Choice to fourth place in the standings and to the Nedbank Cup final where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Free State Stars.

"No, no [He is not leaving]. Fadlu has signed a new contract for us for a further two years. This happened last week," Kadodia told IOL website.

Reflecting on the loss to Ea Lla Koto, Kadodia added: "The better team lost. The guys played well. We didnt take our chances in the small box in the first-half. We played good football.

“Cup football like I said, you have to have a nose of steel. We made one mistake and we were punished. It is sad, it is cruel, but it is football.

“Goals win matches. We had plenty of chances. I cant say more than that."

Kadodia concluded that he is looking forward to the MTN8 with Maritzburg having recorded their best ever league finish.

“We will have a break, and Im sure the players will come back fighting. We are in the MTN8.

“We are not breaking the team. The team is staying intact. We look forward to better things."
