The co-writer of Earth Wind And Fires September has branded Taylor Swifts infamous version of the song as lethargic as a drunk turtle dozing under a sunflower and we are now dead at this epic shade.

Allee Willis wrote the song with EWFs late Maurice White and Al McKay in 1978 and it has become one of the most iconic soul songs of all time but now Willis has revealed that although she was 100% not a fan of the cover, we do have to remember that Taylor didnt actually kill anyone.
(But she does deserve some shade. Lots of it. Seriously, incoming shadein 3, 2, 1…)

I didnt really think she did a horrible job. Yes, I felt it was as lethargic as a drunk turtle dozing under a sunflower after ingesting a bottle of Valium, and I thought it had all the build of a one-story motel, but, I mean, the girl didnt kill anybody.
She didnt run over your foot. She just cut a very calm and somewhat boring take of one of the peppiest, happiest, most popular songs in history.
Willis also reminded concertgoers that everyone has a right to do with a song what they please and that Tay should go on with your own bad self.
But then she added that she was also honoured that the Shake It Off singer chose to do a song that meant so much to her that she wanted to personalise it to the goddamn 28th night of September, that you wanted to cover it with banjo… and that you changed the sacred ba-de-ya to the more Caucasian ah-ah-ah and make it sound more like a field of daffodils than a Soul Train line.
And then, just to dig Tays grave a little deeper, Willis told the audience to join her in a sing-along of the original EWF version to take September back to its happy place… that has kept this Detroiter shaking it up and off for four fat decades.
