Grab your saddles

Grab your saddles because next weekend the Mid West Equestrian Club Inc. will be hosting an open club day with dressage and show jumping competitions.

Club member Nicole Dowling said while the club has been laying dormant for a number of years, committee members are saddling up to get the club up and running again.

“Watch this space, you will be seeing more of the club,” Ms Dowling said.

“Theres been a recent influx of people wanting to get together … so we are actively fundraising.”

Ms Dowling said the Nyngan based club will host their own members and riders from around the state in events from beginners to elite.

“If anybodys around and wants to ride to come along and compete they can join the club if they want to, or they can pay a day membership to come to the competition.”

“If you havent got a horse but are interested come and have a look it doesnt cost you anything to come and have a look.”

“If you are interested in coming to compete there is a level suited to every rider, we are a fun supportive club who welcomes every ability.”

Ms Dowling said as a beginner and testing dressage at a practice day, she now finds herself entering two competitions.

“So we have the absolute beginners and there will be some really good riders, especially from Nyngan as well to compete in the higher classes,” she said.

Show jumping begins at 8am with the Nyngan Auto 45cm open for any rider over 12 who may want to have a jump, with the 45cm under 12 competition following sponsored by Longwood partnership. Jumping programs continue throughout the day with 60, 80, 90cm, 1.05, 1.25m.

Dressage will commence at 9.30am with preparatory A tests for open riders and Under 12s followed by the higher classes of preliminary 1.1 sponsored by Marts Café, Lorraine Johnson Novice 2.1 and Elementary 3.1 sponsored by Performance Plus Equine Elementary.

There will be great prizes including rugs, saddle cloths, halters leads, prize money and ribbons to 5th in each class. The canteen will be in operation all day kicking off with bacon and egg rolls for breakfast.

Competition entry is $5 per class and $15 day membership for any riders who arent members of Mid West Equestrian Club. Joining the club for the calendar year is $60 for juniors and $120 for Adults. (EA Accredited riders need not pay day membership). Waivers must be signed prior to riding. Registrations from 7am on the day.

The club send a big thank you to local sponsors for their support including, Robbs Butchery, Bogan Shire Council, Nyngan Rural, Aeries Resources and Outback Floats Cobar.
