When early reviews suggested Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was more of an Alex Turner solo album than an Arctic Monkeys record, alarm bells started ringing.

But we neednt have worried.

In a new interview, Alex Turner has confirmed that he wasnt looking to produce a solo album this time and it doesnt sound like that will change in the near future.

I was never interested in making a solo album, Turner told The Sunday Times.

I am a part of this band and one would disrespect the other. Nevertheless, I wanted to make this music, it was in me.

In reference to his bandmates, Turner commented: I enjoy their company.

He also spoke about the difficulty he experienced when writing the new album.

On this project I was really unsure about what I was doing and lost with it completely, he revealed.

Then, when Jamie [Cook, guitarist] came out to LA to join me and we worked on stuff together, through his encouragement suddenly I felt completely different.

It sounds like his bandmates are pretty integral to Alex Turners creative process. So dont expect them to split anytime soon.

As for the sound of the record. Well, its a bit different to the Monkeys past work.

Stuffed with graceful piano lines and Scott Walker-esque melodies, TBHC is a super smooth lounge record – perfect for serenading your special someone with.

Its in stark contrast to the post-punk rattlings of debut Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What Im Not or sophomore effort Favourite Worst Nightmare.

Of the change, Turner said: When you compose on the piano, you automatically get different results than on the guitar.

And it was important to me to say goodbye to the realism of most of the Arctic Monkeys stuff.
