Arctic Monkeys break chart record as Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino tops UK album chart
Arctic Monkeys have scored their sixth UK number one album with Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, smashing a chart record in the process.
The groups latest release soared to the top of the chart earning a combined sales of 86,000, with the album being the most popular release of the week across physical, digital and streaming.
Its also become the fastest-selling vinyl record of the past 25 years, shifting 24,500 copies and overtaking Liam Gallaghers As You Were opening week selling 16,000 in October 2017.
The band also outsold the entire top 40 combined on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, so maybe it is having a resurgence after all.
Arctic Monkeys have now maintained their perfect record of having every album hit the top spot, with previous releases Whatever People Say I Am Thats What Im Not, Favourite Worst Nightmare, Humbug, Suck It And See and AM all achieving number one.
