The rapper has claimed he was wrongfully arrested after trying to gain access to his own home.

TI was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after reportedly trying to gain access to the gated community he lives in at 4am without a key.

Security refused to give him entry, and instead the police were called.

His attorney since released a statement to WSB-TV Channel 2, who broke the news, claiming he was wrongfully arrested after having to wake the security guard.

They say he clearly identified himself and sought entry but the guard refused to let him past.

He also alleges his wife was contacted and asked them to allow him entry, but after words were exchanged the police were called. He has been released without bail.

In a statement given to Metro.co.uk, his attorney said: Tip was wrongfully arrested early this morning when he attempted to gain entrance into his gated community – where his wife “Tiny” and his family reside.

The guard was sound asleep when Tip arrived at the guardhouse. It took Tip some time to wake up the sleeping guard. Tip clearly identified himself and sought entry. The guard refused entry. Tip was in contact with “Tiny” by phone and “Tiny” confirmed that Tip should be let in immediately.

He added: The guard continued to refuse entry without justification. Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or a supervisor called the police. When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tips side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip.

TI, real name Clifford Harris Jr., later took to Instagram in a live video explaining what happened.

I guess yall have been hearing all the nonsense you know saying, Im looking like yesterday man, I was inconvenienced and arrested, you know what Im saying, he said. With all we been through this is small potatoes, man.

Reps have been contacted by Metro.co.uk.
