EXCLUSIVE: Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieus annual summer concert from Maastricht is headed to U.S. cinemas for a one-night only engagement. This year titled Amore My Tribute To Love, the filmed concert will premiere nationwide on August 28 via Piece of Magic Entertainment. Recorded during his upcoming July appearances in his hometown, the concert will also hit European theaters on July 28. Check out a teaser above.

Known as “The King of Waltz,” Rieu has previously set UK box office records for music event cinema and his popularity is growing in the U.S. with his last album, Amore, topping the classical charts and a national tour selling out. Rieu has sold more than 40M albums worldwide.

He performs with his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra; together they have toured for 30 years, frequently outperforming major mainstream acts in international concert ticket sales.

Amore, My Tribute To Love is billed as a testament to Rieus love for music and his personal and professional families. For the U.S. theatrical event, moviegoers are invited to dedicate one of Rieus waltzes to a special loved one. He will personally select a dedication and announce the winner during the concert. The screening will also include behind-the-scenes extras.

Says Rieu, “To be able to bring the concert from my beautiful hometown of Maastricht direct to movie theaters for my fans every year is such a thrill. My orchestra and I get so excited about our romantic open-air shows, its just magical to bring it to the big screen. Music is, as they say, the food of love. That is what this show is all about, all types of love.”
