A trial of two additional NSW TrainLink coach services will begin from May 16 to allow customers to complete a round trip between Bourke and Dubbo in a single day.

A new return service will leave Dubbo at 4.45pm on Wednesdays, arriving in Bourke at 9.05pm with a stop at Coolabah.

Another new service on Thursdays will depart Bourke at 5.45am or Brewarrina at 5.30am to connect with the Bourke service at Coolabah and arrive in Dubbo at 10.05am.

“These extra services are designed to enhance the existing NSW TrainLink coach timetable to make it easier for customers to travel between home and this important regional centre,” said Member for Barwon Mr Kevin Humphries.

“Customers travel to Dubbo for a variety of reasons – be it for business or medical appointments, shopping or recreational activities, or to visit friends and family.

“Prior to these changes, it was not possible to make this round trip in a day meaning customers needed to organise overnight accommodation. However, they will soon have a safe and efficient means to spend around four hours in Dubbo and return home on the same day, helping to save time and money,” he said.

The times for the trial services were determined following extensive community consultation in late 2017, with the majority of customers in favour of an early morning departure from Bourke and Brewarrina to maximise their time in Dubbo.

The trial services will be operated using an accessible and air-conditioned NSW TrainLink coach from Bourke and link with the service from Brewarrina

Fares will be in line with existing NSW TrainLink services with concessions available for eligible customers.

The trial is expected to run until June 2019 during which time its acceptance by the community will be evaluated.
