Police appeal after man charged for armed robbery in Cobar

A man has been charged after an alleged armed robbery in Cobar earlier this year.

About 4am on Saturday 3 March 2018, police were called to a service station on Marshall Street, Cobar, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police were told two men, one armed with a knife, threatened a female staff member and demanded money, while a third man stole fuel.

The men left the scene, possibly in a red Ford Laser, with an amount of cash and fuel.

Strike Force Kingham was established by officers from the Central North Police District and an investigation into the incident commenced.

Two days later, police located a red Ford Laser on the Kidman Highway, about 50km south of Cobar.

It was seized for forensic examination.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 20-year-old man in Lake Cargelligo, about 9am yesterday (Wednesday 9 May 2018).

The man was charged with armed robbery with offensive weapon.

He was refused bail and will appear at Forbes Local Court today (Thursday 10 May 2018).

As inquiries continue, anyone with information regarding this incident or in relation to the red Ford Laser, is urged to come forward.
