Excitement builds for Groovin The Moo 2018

Groovin The Moo makes its way to Bunbury this weekend, with a line-up boasting internationals like Portugal. The Man, Duke Dumont and Claptone.

The national festival also has the cream of the crop when it comes to Australian talent and weve named our top five locals to check out.

PAUL KELLY

Ask an Australian musician to name an artist who inspires them and, more often than not, they answer with Paul Kelly.

The iconic Australian singer-songwriter has recorded more than 21 studio albums in a career spanning more than thirty years. Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1997, Kelly continues to cross musical boundaries and influence generations of musicians. A performance not to be missed.

Rockers Grinspoon were the sound of a generation for 90s teenagers and after a hiatus emerged in 2017 to sold out shows across the country.

With seven albums, ARIA nominations and awards, thousands of gigs to their name including seven Big Day Out appearances, their GTM set should be a priority for those keen for a dose of nostalgia and those who want to know what Australian rock was like in the good old days. Be prepared to lose your voice.

Talk about a reinvention. Vera Blue is a project from one of the nations most promising talents Celia Pavey. Pavey may be familiar to some from her time on Team Delta on The Voice.

Since then, she has captivated Australia as Vera Blue with her distinct electronic pop with recent hits Regular Touch and Lady Powers the kind of tunes that you just cant get out of your head. Her feature on Illys Papercuts shows she can cross into the mainstream scene. An arresting performance guaranteed.

ALEX LAHEY

Laheys breakthrough came with her EP B-Grade University. She landed a spot in triple js Hottest 100 and her follow up Love You Like A Brother was given a warm welcome. Check out the 24-year-old is a triple j favourite.

DEAN LEWIS

Sydney singer-songwriter Dean Lewis stormed on to the scene with his first single Waves. Waves, which peaked at number 12 on the ARIA charts and reached triple platinum status, would arguably have to be one of the break out tracks of 2017. Hearing Waves and Lewis haunting falsetto live will be a top GTM moment.

Groovin The Moo kicks off at 10.30am on Saturday, May 12, at Hay Park.
