Popular and lucrative UK event cinema experience Secret Cinema says its next show will be its biggest yet. The firms Romeo + Juliet screening will transform a secret outdoor London location into a “multi-layered world of Verona Beach”. Expect live bands, DJs, choirs and artists and a possible audience of 5,000 during the 11-day run.

Rodrigo Teixeiras RT Features and Martin Scorseses Sikelia Productions are re-teaming to produce and finance two debut features: Danielle Lessovitzs NY-set trans love story Port Authority and Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovics Murina. The duo had A Ciambra in Directors Fortnight last year and they launched an emerging talent company together in 2014.

Writer, director, producer Maria Pulera (Falsely Accused) is launching production and distribution company Rise Upwith partners Eric Banoun and David Hillary. The company is backed by a Spanish-Israeli finance fund. First out the gate was thriller Between Worlds, the Nicolas Cage thriller which Voltage is selling in Cannes. The firm has seven projects greenly including Spanish neo-noir titled El Matador and Johnny Thunders about the American punk rocker from director Jonas Akerlund. Among TV series in the works is Gaddafi Stories.

Kino Lorber has picked up all North American rights to Jean Paul Civeyracs new feature, A Paris Education, which had its world premiere in Berlin. Kino Lorber Sr. Vice President Wendy Lidell negotiated the deal with Laure Parleani of Les Films du Losange. The black and white pic centers on Etienne who comes to Paris to study filmmaking at the Sorbonne. He meets Mathias and Jean-Noël who share his passion for films. But as they spend the year studying, they have to face friendship and love challenges as well as choosing their artistic battles.
