Golfers head to the green, dressed in green

Community members in green shades of fancy-dress took to the green to raise money for Nyngans Can-Assist last month.

President of Can-Assist Nyngan Lyn Webster was pleased with the fun-filled day were participants were constantly faced with quirky challenges such as teeing off blind folded.

“The weather was beautiful, people dressed in green for Can-Assist or some were in fancy dress clothes so it was a fun day and that's what it's all about,” Ms Webster said.

The golf day is the second to be hosted by the Nyngan Golf Club, and this year was sponsored by Outback Carpets Bill Hare who donated a number of prizes for each player.

Local star Royden Donohue also donated his time for the event which Ms Webster said drew a larger crowd later in the day. “Everyone had a great time and we raised a great amount for Can-Assist."

Proceeds from the day go to Can-Assist, a program which raises money for people in the local community that are affected by cancer.

“Our Can-Assist has been going for five years and we're lucky we have these [local] organisations that help raise money for us. The money we raise stays locally, it does not leave the town. It's the community working together to help each other in a roundabout way.”
