Almost Famous Star Billy Crudup Joins Julianne Moores After The Wedding

Almost Famous star Billy Crudup has joined Julianne Moores U.S. remake of Susanne Biers After The Wedding. Crudup, who has also starred in Alien: Covenant and Spotlight, plays Oscar, the loving husband of Moores Theresa.

Deadline revealed in February that husband and wife team Moore and Bart Freundlich and Julianne Moore were remaking Biers Danish drama After The Wedding.

The film is written and directed by Wolves director Freundlich and produced by Joel Michaels (Terminator Salvation) and Silvio Muraglia (Black Butterfly) through Paradox Studios and production will begin this spring.

Paradox Studios is also financing, while Cornerstone Films launched the film at the European Film Market in Berlin and will sell in Cannes. CAA oversees the U.S. rights.

The film, which is set in New York, will provide a fresh update to the original by casting the two lead roles as women in the story of motherhood and family. It tells the story of Isabel, who runs a dilapidated orphanage outside of Calcutta, and who travels to New York to meet the New York millionaire, played by Moore, who has provided money for the orphanage. Following the latters wedding, a mystery unravels.

The original, Efter Brylluppe, was directed by The Night Manager director Bier and starred Hannibals Mads Mikkelsen and Borgen and Westworld star Sidse Babbett Knudsen. It was nominated for Best Foreign Language Oscar but lost out to The Lives Of Others.

Crudup is represented by Jimmy Darmody at CAA and Lighthouse Management and Media.
