Makkah governor names winners of 9th Award for Excellence

JEDDAH: Upgrading the Jeddah waterfront and improving the lives of prisoners and their families were among the achievements made by the winners of the 9th Makkah Award for Excellence announced by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on Wednesday, SPA reported.

The awards of excellence for Hajj and Umrah services were won by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the e-track electronic system for the domestic pilgrims, and the media- awareness campaign “Hajj is Worship and Civilized Behavior,” which over the past few years has raised awareness among pilgrims and those who serve them about the importance of adhering to the laws and regulations of Hajj.

The Security Services in Jeddah was awarded the prize for administrative excellence for its efforts in maintaining security and achieving a record average time for addressing cases of six minutes and 56 seconds. The global average is 11 minutes.

The Makkah Cultural Forum, “How to Be a Role Model,” won the award for cultural excellence, having invested in all the regions characteristics to develop cultural and intellectual projects in a manner in line with the development vision of Makkah region.

The Ministry of Finance, represented by the construction department in Makkah, won the urban excellence award for supervising the execution of the rehabilitation project for Makkahs holy Zamzam well, which was completed in record time despite the challenges it faced.

The award for social excellence was shared by the Hadiyah Charity Association, for providing visitors to Makkah and Madinah with excellent services, and the Ministry of Interiors 911 Unified Security Operations Center, for its rapid response and for contributing to raising security awareness, participating in various awareness campaigns, and supporting humanitarian services.

King Abdullah Economic City won the award for economic excellence for contributing to providing a modern, international and socially progressive city.

Jeddah Municipality won the award for environmental excellence for its contribution to improving the waterfront of Jeddah.

The awards for humanitarian excellence were won by the Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners and their Families in Makkah and Jeddah Municipality for its efforts in caring, as well as for developing reform programs in prisons and conducting relevant scientific studies.
