Harvey Weinstein Doc Heads To Cannes; Red Arrow Bolsters Scripted With Scott Free Hire – Global Briefs

Harvey Weinstein is heading to Cannes, in a way. Lightboxs feature documentary about the disgraced movie mogul, which is now known as Citizen Harvey (w/t), will be launched on the Croisette by Embankment. The sales company hopes to close deals with international distributors for the project, which is now in production. The film, which is a deep-dive into the Weinstein scandal that has fuelled the #MeToo and Times Up movements and its far-reaching global impact, is a co-production with the BBC. Produced by Lightbox founders Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn and The Imposters Poppy Dixon, it is directed by Captive director Ursula Macfarlane. David Gilbery (McQueen) and Charles Dorfman (Shame) are executive producing on behalf of Media Finance Capital, who are financing alongside the BBC. Simon Young will executive produce for the BBC. It will air in the UK on BBC Two following its theatrical release. Lightbox will also premiere feature documentary Whitney, directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald, during Cannes.

Red Arrow Studios International is bolstering its scripted division with the hire of Scott Free Films Carlo Dusi. The exec, who was previously Head of Business and Commercial Affairs at Ridley Scotts production banner, joins Red Arrow in the newly created position of EVP Commercial Strategy, Scripted. Reporting to President Henrik Pabst, he will be responsible for leading all commercial strategy for Red Arrow Studios Internationals scripted production and co-production projects. During his time at Scott Free, he exec produced projects including Tom Hardys Taboo, Rowan Joffes thriller Before I Go To Sleep, Chris Smiths comedy Get Santa and Sean Foley-directed comedy Mindhorn. “The international landscape for high-end TV drama has never been as exciting and fast-moving. I am delighted to be joining Henrik and the highly-talented team at Red Arrow Studios International at this time, and to play my part in their continued success as the team expand their global reach in the scripted space,” he said.
