Battlefronts of Nyngan district veterans

Community members of the Bogan Shire gathered in Heritage Park for a ceremony to commemorate the centenary marking the end of the First World War and to acknowledge the sacrifices of those who served.

In 2015 plaques were unveiled for each of the six trees planted around the sandstone circle commemorating the major battles people from the Nyngan district served in.

President of the Nyngan RSL Sub-branch Derek Francis and museum volunteer Anna Corby gave an overview of each battle.

The first tree, supported by the Girilambone Public school, was planted in memory of those who served in the battles of Suez 1915 and Palestine 1916.
