Jack OConnell and Lily Collins are jumping into The Cradle, a drama from The Levelling writer/director, Hope Dickson Leach. Protagonist Pictures has boarded the project and will launch the script to buyers in Cannes with a summer 2018 shoot eyed. UTA and CAA are handling North American rights.

Described as a highly emotional and life-affirming drama, The Cradle centers on Matt and Marissa who are expecting their first baby any minute — but Matt is having panic attacks and Marissa wants the nursery to be perfect. So perfect that she needs Matt to track down the cradle she had as an infant. To keep his pregnant wife happy, Matt hits the road unaware of what lies ahead. The discovery he makes, however, will change their family forever.

This is Dickson Leachs second feature after The Levelling which premiered at Toronto in 2016 and nabbed a Scottish BAFTA for Best Writer as well as a BIFA nomination. The filmmaker adapted The Cradle with Patrick Somerville from his eponymous 2009 novel. Producers are Gail Mutrux and Tore Schmidt for Pretty Pictures (The Danish Girl).

Unbroken and 71 breakout OConnell stars in Netflixs Godless and recently joined Against All Enemies opposite Kristen Stewart. Collins starred in last years To The Bone and has Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile and Tolkien on deck.

Dickson Leach is repped by UTA in the U.S. and Casarotto Ramsay & Associates in the UK. OConnell is with CAA, Conway van Gelder Grant and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern. Collins is represented by CAA, LBI, Definition Entertainment and Sloan Offer Weber & Dern.
