Shark warning after surfer knocked off board at Prevelly

A shark warning has been issued for Surfers Point in Prevelly near Margaret River after a surfer was reported to have been knocked off his surfboard on Wednesday morning.

Water Police said a report was received at 12.49pm following the altercation at around 10am, in which the surfer was paddling when the two metre shark knocked him into the water.

The surfer did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Fisheries officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are at the location and monitoring the beach.

Beaches remain closed between Ellensbrook and North Point in Gracetown.

What to do:

Adhere to beach closures advised by local government rangers or Surf Life Saving WA.

Take additional caution in the Prevelly area.

What authorities are doing:

Fisheries officers are patrolling in this area for the remainder of the school holidays.

The Surf Life Saving WA Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter will be continuing aerial patrols throughout the remainder of the school holidays.
