Avicii tops charts once more as fans remember DJ following sudden death

Aviciis songs have earnt their spot at the top of the charts once more, after his untimely death on Friday at the age of 28.

The DJs body was found in Muscat, Oman, on 20 April and while the cause of death is yet to be confirmed, fans have wasted no time in making sure his banging tunes race back up the charts.

Ten of the Swedish stars songs have landed in the top 50, catapulting the DJ – real name Tim Bergling – to the top of the Spotify.

While in his native Sweden, eight of the top 10 tracks are his, as the locals mourn their young prodigy – with Wake Me Up reaching the top spot.

Here, in the UK, his massive hit Levels (you know it, you listen, you love it) is the highest charting re-entry of his, reaching number five today.

The news comes three days after a statement on Tims death was released by his rep.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii, it read. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time.

No official cause of death has been confirmed yet but we do know Avicii had to have operations in 2014, two years before his pancreatitis diagnosis.

The producer retired from live performances due to health issues in 2016, while it was said he was in Oman with friends – as photos emerged of him looking relaxed and happy in the days leading up to his death.

This week Swedens Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia paid tribute to Avicii, who performed at their wedding reception in 2015.

It is with great sadness that we received the news that Tim Bergling has died. We are grateful that we got to know him and admired him as an artist and the nice person he was, the royal couple said in a statement issued over the weekend after his death.
