Teen injured in football match, airlifted to hospital

A teen has been taken to hospital after suffering an injury in a football match in western NSW at the weekend.

The 16-year-old boy sustained a throat injury in the game at Nyngan, west of Dubbo on Saturday, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter reported.

The service was deployed to transport the young patient from the town to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital that night, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesperson said.

“The patient was in a stable condition,” they said.

The rescue helicopter was kept busy with urgent response missions on Saturday.

Earlier it had conducted a search between Forster and Laurieton after an emergency beacon was activated and later it was called to treat a young rider for injuries suffered from a fall from a horse west of Gloucester.
