Musona hoping to eclipse older brother Knowledge

Cape Town – While stating that he's a different player to his brother Knowledge, Walter Musona hopes to emulate and even surpass his sibling's achievements in the Absa Premiership.

Knowledge Musona helped Kaizer Chiefs win the Telkom Knockout in the 2009/ 10 campaign and scored 15 goals in 28 league games the following season to win the Golden Boot.

He also played in the Bundesliga for a couple of seasons with Augsburg and Hoffenheim, enjoying a second stint at Chiefs before leaving for KV Oostende in Belgium, the same club as Bafana midfielder Andile Jali, where he has been based for the last four seasons.

But while the Zimbabwean skipper's days in South Africa's top flight are behind him, younger brother Walter, 22, has been making his mark in front of goal for Polokwane City this season and has registered six league goals in 14 starts and seven substitute appearances.

He says however he is not concerned at having high standards to live up to and plans to leave his own mark on the PSL.

"No, I don't feel any pressure at all, it's just the surname which is the same, but the type of play is different," he told Farpost.

"Knowledge has his own type of play and I have my own type of play. I don't have pressure; I just have to play my normal game. I don't have to be like Knowledge, because I can't be like him.

"I have to do better than him (Knowledge), that's my goal. I think I need to work harder to be like him or to be more than him. What he did here I must do more," he added.

Musona is in his second season with Rise and Shine and he made headlines in January by scoring a belter of a free kick from 40-yards out against Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana keeper Itumeleng Khune.
