The community are rallying together to raise money for Weve got you Jason, a gofundme page set up to raise money for Jason Smith following his diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
A charity bowls afternoon has been organised in Nyngan to raise money for the Smith family to travel Australia, a goal Mr Smith was saving for retirement.
Mr Smith was diagnosed with MND – a progressive terminal neurological disease that destroys motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord On October 31 last year.
Gradually messages from Mr Smiths brain will stop reaching his muscles, leading to weakness and muscle wastage. Two or more people die from MND and more than two people are diagnosed with the disease each day in Australia.
Organiser Karina Dunn said the fundraiser for Mr Smith is about coming together to have some fun “whether you play bowls or not”.
“I decided to organise the event just to try and help Jason anyway we could. To be thrown a horrible blow like Jase has, is just devastating,” Ms Dunn said.

“I have known Jase nearly his whole life as he was my neighbour when he was little. He is such a kind loving guy that would do anything for anyone.”
Ms Dunn said she hopes the event will be a evening of fun, bringing together the community to “raise some money to help our mate Jase out”.
“On the day there will be raffles, Mansi will be doing some henna for the children, there will be a trade travel where people can purchase things like plants.
“Andrew who has the 'Bogan Barista' will be there with his lovely coffee trailer, there will be a barbecue and an auction of guernseys and a few other items,” said Ms Dunn.
Guests will also be entertained by Bathurst entertainment company UTTER.
The event will be held next Saturday, April 21 at the Nyngan Bowling Club.
The event is $20 for those 18 and above, for people 18 and under $10.
The event begins at 4pm, however Ms Dunn encourages those bowling to arrive half an hour earlier for registrations.
