Whod have thought that A$AP Rocky was a big Smiths fan?

With the Harlem rappers as-yet-untitled third studio album officially on the way, its safe to say that the 29-year-old has certainly been busy in the studio – and it appears that hes been taking plenty of inspiration from the Morrissey-led Manchester band.

Speaking to Peter Rosenberg for his new YouTube show Open Late, Rocky firmly declared his interest in hooking up with Morrissey in the studio.

I might have to fuck with Morrissey on some Smiths shit, he told the host about his next direction.

Make some emo, real, retro-infusion, motherfuckin 2018 shit, man.

Should Rocky get his wish, itll be his most unlikely collaboration since… well, his last album, which featured a surprise guest vocal turn from Rod Stewart.

Speaking of albums, Rocky says that his next LP will see him experimenting in a more calculated way.

I wanna take a different approach and challenge [people] whore tired of hearing the same old shit. This shit is cliché at this point, he remarked.

Im trying to test my viewers and listeners to see if they ready to grow with me.

This is going to be an amazing fucking album, he said, modestly, about his next work.

Im going to hopefully change a lot of peoples lives again, and hopefully people will make better music, and inspire me to make even better.

A release date has yet to be announced, but, if its as good as the albums lead single, A$AP Forever, then were in for a real treat – Morrissey involvement or not.
